So what diet or diets have you used in the past?
I have tried allsorts including weightwatchers, the star diet,1000 calorie diet plus others which i cant thin of at the moment! I have even gone through stages of hardly eating anything for days before a big night out etc, just to lose a few extra pounds! Which was when i was a lot younger, i would'nt do that now as i'm more sensible of course! lol

my wife tried the cambridge diet a few years back. her friend managed to lose quite a few stone on the diet
shakes, soups and energy bars were all that was allowed...and water the weight fell off her, but the minute she stopped her body was craving all of the food/nutrients that she had deprived her body of she ate for the england eating team and was back to her original weight in no time not recommended in my opinion, we still have a box full of the shakes, soups and bars in the garage |

I've tried many diets over the years but i use Weightwatchers as a good guide. I like it because you can eat anything - just count the points.
Whilst having a base diet is a good thing - I think a really good aid is writing down what you eat. Interestingly when I go 'off' I stop writing down what I am eating. I have done a lot of work on myself over the last year looking at why I eat food that is either rubbish or I am not hungry. To help I used the 'Beck Diet Solution' which helped me look at my sabotaging voices. I have understood for years that there was something psychological about my eating as I knew what I shouldn't eat and would carry on anyway, making myself miserable at the same time. The exercises in the book really helped my motivation and understand my eating patterns. If anyone would like me to post some motivation exercises I would be more than happy too. |

The only one I have tried in the past is the Cambridge Diet and I was put on that by my parents as I was a porky kid. It didn't really work for me as I like my food too much.
Honestly the best diet for losing weight? Is simply taking in less calories than you expend, through healthy eating and exercise. Sorry folks it's not rocket science! ... but in my opinion, that is a sustainable plan for life. |
