Default advice needed!

I'm not hugely overweight so always feel guilty when suggesting to anyone I'd like to lose weight! However, I'm not happy with the few pounds (actually more like half stone) I've gained in the last 12 months, when in my 36 years I've always been quite slim and feel that's defined me (rightly or wrongly!). Can anyone suggest a sensible diet that might kick me quite quickly back into shape?

Hi oliesca
you sound like me im 10 stone 5 ft 4 and 34 yrs old. I to have gained a little extra weight i could do with shiffting the way im doing is by trying to eat things that contain less than 3.5g fat so avoid snacks like chrisps, choclate, cakes, and replacing them with rhyvita, yoghurts and fruit. And of course continuing 3 meals aday cereal, soup, and dinner.
I walk and ride my bike as much as i can the most miles on my bike i achieved was 11 mile which was really good for me. I started on the bike at 2 mile and increased over 3weeks, in the three weeks i watched my weight i lost 7 pound taking me down to 9 stone 7. Im helping my sister she has 4 stone to loose!! She has gone from 14 stone 1 to 13 stone 8 and she is becoming happier.
hope this helps and diet in my mind also needs exercise.

I guess the best way to lose weight is to understand your body and consult a dietitian to get a proper diet plan.
It is very important to know and understand what is good for your body.
