Default Does your job kill your diet??

Im a Staff Nurse and work shifts, generally three 13 hour shifts a week, or when im on nights i work seven 12 hour shifts in a week. I have thin coulegues who i class as feeders lol!! you know the ones they open a box off chocolates and try to force them in your mouth by telling you one won't hurt!!... then one leads to two and so on..... oh crap where did they all go!!! lol in my belly!!! (patients by nurses lots n lots of chocolates).

I find that i can moderate my diet quite well at work as i only eat what i take in and we are quite good at making sure we get brakes so we can eat, although there are times when we need to go without brakes as our work load is too heavy, so by the end of the day you just want to eat anything... and quick. My night shifts i find hard as i cant face eating a cold salad, need something warm and comforting on nights, so i need to bee supper organised to make healthy food i can take in and warm up. I find i have to be supper focussed on night shifts to stay motivated which is really hard when you are tired and lacking in energy, any advice on how to get through the nights would be good.

Does your job affect you???

When someone is already predisposed to gout, that person should avoid foods that are rich in purines as overconsumption of these foods boosts the production of uric acid. Many experts recognize that allergens affect rheumatoid arthritis because it is an autoimmune disease.

Hi Chattychick (like that nick )

I work for myself from home which brings a number of challenges including food and meal times.

I don't really set any specific meal times as I just like to eat whenever I'm hungry. I usually have some fruit and / or nuts on my desk so I can have a quick snack here and there. The issue I sometimes have is not making enough time to go and prepare proper meals. I mean I never forgo breakfast but I find if I'm working on something I all almost forget the time and before I know it it's 3.30. So bang goes lunch. I then usually just grab a quick sandwich and that usually does the trick.

To be honest though I think it's also down to the fruit and nuts that I snack on at my desk that gives me the energy to work through lunch most days. At least they are healthy, which is a good thing.
