The only way as far as I am aware is cardio-vascular exercise. Anything else is just a gimmick. IMO

Well that topic is constantly under debate!
Many people would advocate fasted cardio done in the morning, before eating anything. |

I already get up at 6 in the morning so will try and get started when I finish work, which should be around 16:15.
Is it correct that exercising really hard for short periods is better for burning fat? |

Yeti, I think you're referring to HIIT = High Intensity Interval Training, see here for more info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-in...erval_training A lot of people go for HIIT and would suggest it is best for fat burning. Not something I've ever really got into really, although saying that I probably do it without realising.... i.e. I'll do a few mins of really hard pace then slow down a bit then some more hard pace etc etc. |

I would probably do a few minutes of of really hard pace and then slowly fall off the machine onto the floor for quite a few minutes more. :O/

Now now, come on!
We all have to start somewhere. I distinctly remember when I first decided to do something about my weight and lack of exercise. Honestly, to begin with I could barely manage 5 mins on the treadmill or cross trainer etc. I was so embarrassed. But as you progress and stick with it, doing a little bit more each time, you start to feel it getting a bit easier. |

I used to go to the gym at 7am 3-4 times a week, while dieting and i did lose some weight.
But i was so tired by the evening i was always in bed by 9am, much to Franks annoyance! So it effected me alot by doing it, too much for me to bother getting up that early and going to the gym . lol Thanks for the answers though. |

I find the best way is to do HIIT in the morning after having a protein shake and eating smaller meals throughout the day (Ideally 5 meals a day). Believe it or not eating more does makes you burn fat! |

I will also add that to improve your metabolism and teach your body how to use fat instead of carbohydrates as a source of energy. Try eating protein+carbs foods in the morning until lunch time and protein+fat (good fats, oils e.g fish) in the evening. Try to avoid carbs as much as possible in the evening.
