Red face Just joined..looking for answers please...

Hello everyone,

I've been searching for answers on the net as I can't make any sense of it. So here goes, if anyone has any advise it would be much appreciated!

Over the past 2 years I have gained almost 3 stone in weight. During which time I have done fad diets, starved myself and also taken so called slimming pills. Not good I know but I did!

I reached a turning point 12 weeks ago when I decided that I had to stop kidding myself and that the only way to get back into shape was to do it properly. I was 13st 13 lbs at this point.

So I started making a log of my calorie intake. Keeping it to 1,700 ish per day. I stopped drinking copious amounts of wine. Got on the 5 a day band wagon, drank loads of water and have kept this up for the whole 12 weeks. (Apart from one day I spent eating mainly Benny and Jerrys Cookie Ice cream)

In addition to the extreme change in my diet I started walking every day (yes every day) I walk between 1.5 and 5.2 miles per day at about 2.8 miles per hour over hilly terrain. I then do 200 sit ups and a few arm exercises.

In addition to this I play tennis once a week for an hour, I also pole dance once a week for an hour.

Now here is my problem.... 12 weeks of the above (which I have actually enjoyed and feel fitter) but I have lost only 1 lb. I thought by now I would be able to fit into the clothes I have always refuse to send to the charity shop in the hope that one day I shall be able to squeeze them over my thighs again.

Does anyone have any idea why I'm not losing weight? I wouldn't mind so much if I reshaped and could get into my clothes, then the weight would not bother me (well actually it probably would but I could learn to accept it if I could just get my skinny jeans on)

Any advise would be much appreciated -

Default Well Done !!!

Hi Mirage,

You've done really well sticking to the diet and exercise for 12 weeks, but you may need to drop your calorie intake a little. I'm no expert but have done loads of diets over the years and the one that worked for me was the Sureslim plan. I cut out bread, pasta, potatoes and rice (I have a bit of an intolerence to them!) and I lost 2 and a half stone in 6 months following the low GI plan. Once I had done the quick loss part, I was then able to re-introduce some of my 'problem foods'. That was 3 years ago and sadly I fell off the diet wagon (went back to pizza's and wine!) so I need to re-train myself again.

It might be helpful to fine a low GI diet plan on the internet (I'm sure I've seen one somewhere for 21 days) and try following that for a while to see if it makes a difference with your exercise routine.

Good luck with your continued journey,

Rockchic1

hiya

your definately moving in the right direction with the exercise but im thinking the same as rockchic1. i try to stick to 1200 calories a day and i go to the gym 5 times a week and overall i have lost 5 stone in just over a year. admittedly i have put a stone back on but thats because i cant say no to cornal kontucky lol. im back on my 1200 calorie plan now and i already feel better. just count your calories. dont make a meal plan as you will get bored just try and count your calories and keep your diet varied so that its interesting and you wont get bored. the worse thing about a diet is feeling low as you cant eat what you want but everything in modiration and your get there :-)
