Question carbs or not?

I am counting cals but just want to know if I should be eating carbs like jacket potatoes and wholemeal bread or not?
I dont eat anything white - white bread, white pasta, white rice and I stick to porridge or shreddies for breakfast.
I started to have more filling foods due to the exercise I am doing but the weight not shifting so is this the area I need to reconsider?

i only eat carbs just before going to the gym myself. they are an inportant part of your diet but eatting to many of them can bloat you and your body finds it hard to break down. try to have small portions of carbs. carb calories burn very slowly and therefore can be easily stored on the body. this is why you should restrict yourself :-)

i try to eat mine about 30 mins before the gym so you can break them down while you work out. plus you shouldnt feel hungry after the gym then either :-). carbs are complex so harder to break down and take longer thats why they keep you full but if you dont burn them can be easily stored as fat on the body. thats why i always workout 30 mins after having them. always the best time :-) hope this helps

yeah many people think that because your matab is still working hours after your workout that you can eat what you want. if you want to be techincal this is true but then you will only burn off what youve just eaten and not the fat you want to get off so it defeat the object of going lol

I go to Commando fit straight from work so its difficult to have a tea. dont want to eat after as it would be about 8:30pm which is too late. cant eat too much before as I am still at work. what i have been doing is having tuna/chicken salad at lunch sometimes with jacket potato sometimes not but then eating fruit throughout afternoon and always a banana at about 5pm - class starts at 6:30pm. does that sound a good plan or any better suggestions?

thats sounds ok but if you are sat down in an office for the afternoon i wouldnt have a jacket potatoe myself. the chicken/tuna salad is a very good idea as it is high in protien which helps burn fat. could you not make up a small portion of pasta or rice to have just as your leaving work. then it will have time to go down on the way to your class??

hi thanks,
I went training last night and due to time constraints I only had tuna salad for lunch - no time for jacket pot. I noticed that I couldnt perform as well as usual at my training session -my body felt lethargic and lacking in fuel. so that helped prove to me that I need some carbs on days I am training.
thanks for tips.
