Question Do I need to change what I'm doing?

Hi guys,

I'm new to this site and apologies in advance for my long post but I wanted to fully explain things.

I am a 5ft female who in May weighed in at 10 stone. I have managed to get down to 9st 6lbs but I seem to have hit a brick wall?

I eat between 1300 & 1600 calories of food everyday and burn between 400 and 600 in excercise everyday.

I eat what i want, but I do write it all down and make sure I don't eat over 1600.* An average day would consist of :

Breakfast of Honey nut cheerios with semi skimmed milk, lunch would be a Sainsburys sandwich Be good to yourself range, dinner is usually either something with white rice, pasta, or meat / fish and veg. I drink 4 x cups pf coffee with 2 sugars and semi skimmed milk, plus 1 litre of water at the gym each day.

My daily excercise is:

10 mins gym bike moving from level 3 to level 7

16 minutes interval on the crosstrainer. 1 minute at levels 10 + 10 and 1 minute levels 10 + 2

14 minutes the AMT at level 4

I then do 15 russian swats each leg, 15 medicine ball squats, 1 - 1.5 minutes plank, 30 side kicks,* 30 bench dips,* and 30 medicine ball ab side curls. I then move onto weights where i do 3 x 15 reps on the leg press at 12kg, 3 x 15 reps on triceps curl at 15kg, 1 x20 on chest pull down at 22kg, if I have time i also do 3 x15 reps on the chest press.

So my question is, do i need to change things abit in order to lose the last half a stone I need or will the weight start to come off again.

The net effect of all this is that I'm storing*about 1000 calories a day, but I have seen written on some sites, that you need to have a calorie defecit! Surely that does'nt mean I need to burn off the other 1000 cals plus abit more does it?* My body would surely go into starvation mode if I did that wouldn't it?

Anyway, enough of my ramblings, I'd just be grateful to hear what other poeple think to :

a) what I am currently doing ?

b) what they think I might need to change to lose those last few pounds ?

Looking forward to your replies

Regards

Ruth

Default Try Liver Detox to get over a plateau

When you plateau during weight loss try a good quality nutritional liver detoxification program. Avoid the quick fix and junk supplement programs by using a well respected company's products. You can expect an 11 to 30 day program to give the best results.

You will usually continue losing weight on these programs and it tends to get you off the plateau so you can continue losing weight when you return to your normal weight loss program. Some people find it helpful to continue with some of the nutritional supplements after finishing the detox to avoid hitting a plateau again.

Smile Liver Detox?

Thanks for your replies guys. I did try Hoodia once but it is pricey and I wasn't totally convinced. However I have never heard of Liver Detox so please could you explain what this entails. Weird how great minds think alike as I have increased my cardio workout times by an extra 5 mins starting today!

Again, all advice gratefully received.

Cheers

Ruth

you need to mix it up a bit. your body has got used to what your doing. do you have a cheat meal at all. you are meant to have one to kick start your body again into losing weight. i have never plateud because i have my cheat meal. you have to remember that your body will slow down if you do a ruotine for to long. just mix it up and let your self slide once a week and im sure the pounds will start coming off again

Thanks, however I do cheat now and again. I'll have the odd takeaway, went out for an Indian, and have had the odd party where I've drank far too much wine! I still count it all though! What about my calorie deficit question? As I said I eat max of 1600 cals but burn upto 600 leaving a net effect of 1000 a day. Should the net effect be lower?
I think I'm gonna try cutting out my coffee with 2 sugars and s skimmed milk and go back to black tea with no sugar and see if that makes any difference. What I haven't mentioned is whilst the weight us staying the same, I am still losing the odd half inch here and there and I mustn't forget that. It might be that I building muscle?

cutting out sugar is a good step and having the odd take away is good but just make sure you do this every week not just every so often. sounds weird i know but it works. i try to keep to twleve hundred calories a day and then do exercise as this is meant to be the perfect intake for a women to lose the most weight as healthy as possible. might seem difficult but its amazing what you can find that is low in calories but tastes really good.

Thanks and you may be right re the sugar. I don't have a sweet tooth at all however, when I started this regime I stopped drinking my coffee with 2 sugars and went to black tea with none. That was fine for a while but it leaves a tinny taste in mouth and stains your tongue and teeth so I have gone back to my sweet coffee! I think I'll give the tea another go and I'm having a review at the gym tomorrow, so fingers crossed things will get back on track soon. The hardest part is having an evening meal without carbs, which I've been advised to do. So tonight I had baked salmon with a mountain of green beans! It was ok but felt weird without potatoes!

Default re: do i need to change what im doing

hello..as you have mentioned about your diet...I would like to say that stop drinking so much coffee as it will increase your weight.
Also any fatty food should be exempted because even if you exercise a lot, unless you cut down on your fatty food, it won't help.
