Default General Help wanted

Hi Guys

I wonder if someone could give me some advice.

I am an over weight guy, who is trying to diet.

At the moment i am hitting the gym 3 times a week, burning around 750 calories per session. (All CV no weights)

My calorie in take is generally porridge (250kcal), Soup (200), pineapple (120), yoghurt (100), banana (100) in day.

My evening meal can vary, this week I have had

Monday Jacket Spud, Fishcake Beans
Tuesday Rice, Veg, Chicken in tomatoe sauce
Wednesday Sausage mash onion gravey.

I dont use oils/butter to cook anything in but do have some butter on jackets and some light mayo now and again.

I would say I dont go over 1500kcal in take a day.

My problem is, I am not losing any weight, I admit I usually dont stick to my diet on a saturday but i do not go mental and stuff myself either.

I did my BMR and it says i should eat over 2800 cals a day to lose 2lbs a week. Is this correct???

Am I putting my body in starvation mode by eating less?

Any help would be greatly recieved and any tips.

You should always have a breakfast porridge is good, do not forget your five a day you can eat as much veg as you like, you can juice veg as well to drink in between meals. we never mix protein with starch for example we have potatoes and veg or meat and veg you body can digest it quicker, if you can cut down on your bread but you can have a chip sandwich because that is all starch. eat every four hours but do not eat after 7.30. hope this helps

Hi Craig

I don't have any info on your weight or height to know whether or not your BMR is right. Sounds high to me but like I said, I don't have the full details to be able to offer a comment on that.

Are you varying your workouts? I often go through phases where I'm stuck at the same weight. More often than not it's because the exercises I'm doing are no longer effective and my clever a$$ muscles have cottoned on to my exercise pattern. Have you heard of the weight loss plateau? Won't go into detail on that here but Google it and read up for yourself. Ideally you need to vary both your diet and exercise so perhaps this could be a reason...

Hope you manage to figure it out.
