Well at first glance it may appear harsh, but a BMI of 42 is very high and the guy is deemed as morbidly obese.
It's a tough call, but the reality is that their is a greater risk that the guy could become seriously ill or even keel over and die! Which is not going to do much good for the long term stability of a child from an already unstable background. What i don't understand is why the council say get your BMI to 40 and you will be OK. Now that is just stupid, it is not as though with a BMI of 40 he is out of danger is it! |

Typical council etc, they are very outdated as are most laws in the UK imo.
But i can understand the health issues etc. |

I too think this is wrong, I am a volunteer for one of the public services
and I did there fitness test and passed but my BMI puts me into the "Morbidly Obese" range.just because im overweight does not make me any less loving, enthusiastic or fit, like you say Gem its outdated thinking and although my diet previously was bad my own 2 1/2 year old daughter still got her five a day and i make sure she is not me! |
