Default Fight the good fight.

I have had on many times tried to lose weight but have failed, i feel to have a new purpose and motivation now and have begun yet again.
I had visited a doctor and had been told that i was obese. A shock to the system yes but i suppose not entirely surprising. My height is 5' 11" and weight was 17 stone 7 pounds. Since starting this time around i am now down to 16 stone, a loss of 1 and a half stone!!!!!.
I will keep you up to date on progress and the diet i am trying.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. It certainly is a briliant feeling to start to acheive your goals. I have tried to set realistic goals about amount of weight to lose each week.
I try and aim between 2-3 pounds per week if possible. not reaching the target is not the end of the world or a failure, it is what it is , not as much as i would like.

I have changed a few things and try to stick to them as a rule.

1) make sure i have 3 meals a day.

2) Try to have a change in types of meals as it can become boring.

3) Portion size, keep it realistic and not go over the top as is so easy to do.

For the exercise i try and walk as much as i can, going to get back into swimming and running later.

What can work for one person might not for another, but at the moment it is for me.
I don't feel that i am obsessed with my plan but focused on what i am doing. I have always thought when you are on a weight loss diet, if people know this they should not try and trip you up by offering extra food or junk food. To me it would be like asking a vegetarian if they want a ham sandwich.

New weigh in.

I had the new weigh in...... 15 stone 9 pounds. a loss of 5 pounds. My weight is still in the obesse group for my height with a BMI of 30.4. but everything is going in the right direction and i have a good PMA.(Positive Mental Attitude).
What a strange feeling but will be glad to get into the overweight region and not obesse!.
I think getting down to your target weight is only half the battle because once you are there, how do you stay there? trying to stay at the weight without going straight back up is the problem i have had in the past. You can't stay on lower calories all the time and i know its got to be a re-education, a new lifestyle which can give me the success i want and need. any views would be welcomed.

The fight goes on and feeling good about it, sometimes does feel as though i have had an unwelcomed visitor move in with me in the shape of 5 and a half stone of extra fat, what a monster. With the extra work i am doing though in my diet he is shrinking and slowly going.

It seems as though whenever you watch the TV a good percentage of adverts show food or drink. Another way to try and trip you up along with shopping in supermarkets. Why are the sweets always by the checkout tills? its the place we have to pass before we leave, how many of us have thought haven't had one of those in ages or i'll try one of those. Just try and stay positive and remember why the weight loss was started in the first place.

My own thought on what type of weight loss diet to try and should it be carbs or protein etc. As we all need a certain amount of calories per day, women 2000 and men 2500 (approx), surely if you consume more you put weight on and vice versa. There might be ways that protein or carbs are different in the way they help in the speed you loose weight i am not sure. At the moment my method seems to work for me, i shall keep updating.

protien is known for helping you burn fat and carbs are good for keeping up energy levels. i find eating carbs before the gym is good but not really any other time and protien should be had when ever possible. i always have a shake in the morning to kick start me.

well part way through the week and still being positive about the whole weight loss and lifestyle change. I think for me a complete lifestyle change is what is needed to not only lose the weight but more importantly keep the weight off for good.
i am going to start keeping a diary of my thoughts along with food and drink that i have each day. A good way of looking back for inspiration and the reasons why i needed to change. talking on forums and blogs is a great help as well.
