Default Gem's pre kids weight goal! 8-)

Ok, so i have decided to start a journal on here to try and help motivate myself, mainly to do some exercise more than the healthy eating.
I started a calorie controlled diet on Monday this week ( 19/01/09 ) and although i havent done any actual exercise, i have done my back garden ( digging, etc ) that took me 3 hours and i have played on the wii for about half an hour. Which is more than i have done in a while! lol 8-)
I am usually very active anyway, running around after the kids etc. And i only watch about an hour of tv a day, so i dont sit on my butt doing nothing all day. I must just eat more calories than i use most days, hence the weight gain.

Also i dont have a problem with meals, i like most healthy food & fruit etc. But i tend to snack, especially in the night from 7.30pm onwards when the kids have gone to bed and i start to wind down. So i'll be trying to stop this, or at least to eat things that dont have loads of fat and calories in them.
I intend to have 1 cheat meal a week on a saturday night, plus a bar of chocolate to keep me sane for desert! lmao

Before i had kids i was a size 10-12, i am now more a 12-14 ( def more the 14! ) much to my disgust.
I'm not going to actually post my weight, as i dont feel comfortable with it, but i will post my weight loss as i go along.

My target is going to be a holiday we have booked in May, and i want to have lost at least a stone by the time we go away.

Main reasons for putting on weight have been:

    1/ no exercise
2/ over eating of junk food ( mainly chocolate, esp over xmas )
3/ no motivation to lose the weight

But i feel so crappy all the time lately, with my confidence at an all time low that something has to be done, and no-one is going
    to do it for me!

So wish me luck, and i will update this as regularly as possible.

    Gem :-)

Best of luck with this, I'm sure you will succeed. It really does help when you have a date in the future to focus on, as a motivational tool. The thing is with a holiday is it is booked and paid for, so you are going no matter what - and so you are now in control of how you will shape yourself for that event. It's really good that you have decided to address the issue this far in advance, so many people I know start panicking the week before they go on holiday and want desperately to like lose 2 stone in a week!

What sort of exercise are you planning to do?

I know, i've been really good over the last week. Weigh in day tomorrow for me! 8-)

I'm planning on going jogging at least 3 times a week & maybe doing my fitness dvd i have at home 1-2 times a week too.
Depending on the amount of spare time i can get! lol Which is hard with 3 kids, but i am feeling super motivated for a change so hopefully
i will keep this up and make the time to exercise somehow.

Cant face the gym, i get so bored of it that its impossible for me to keep up.

Hope the weigh in tomorrow brings good news and helps with the motivation.

With the lighter evenings coming along I plan to at least start to go for walks around the countryside around me. I even brought myself some new hiking boots. Not sure I could do the running thing just yet. Need to get on that cross trainer and get just a little bit fitter before I am seen red faced and breathless at the end of my street.

Well done Gem - that's a great start.

I have just worked out that I have just got to the weight I was after I had my second son 18 years ago! Next target to get to the weight I was after my eldest son was born 21 years ago - two more stone to go.

I found a diary from 10 years ago when I lost 2st. It only took me a year to put it all back on plus an extra 7lbs! I can't do that again. I had no idea that it had all gone back on so quickly, it's been a real eye opener

Well after last weekend, running up and down the stairs, hauling myself up attics and generally running around like an idiot.
    I managed to put on 2lb!!!!! :-(

Even though i didnt over eat at all that weekend or anything. I just dont get it sometimes and i've been very unmotivated all week after weighing ( which i wish i hadnt done now ) though having to sort the house out hasnt helped, which i have hated! lol

But anyway, 2mrw is a new week and i am trying to get back on track, esp as i dug out some pics of me from 18mths ago today
and cant beleive how much slimmer i was ( at least a stone lighter ) and the mad thing is i thought i looked fat then, so god knows
    what i look like now.

Just shows that it creeps on and you dont even notice half the time..
