    Hi Caroline,
I'm new here too and I started my new healthy lifestyle last week (Friday). I'm 34, married and a fellow Scot
I have Polycycstic ovaries (which affects insulin etc etc) but I am also an emotional comfort eater. I got on the scales last week and was shocked and disgusted at myself. I'm the heaviest I've ever been....I HAVE to do it. The alternative (which is unthinkable) is a life of getting bigger and bigger whilst feeling more and more miserable and being more unhealthy.
I can't do that. I want to be healthy, happy and slim (not skinny) and be confident and enjoy life now!
We deserve that. And yes, we CAN do it.
Every little change makes a big difference. We can't consider it a "diet" but a healthy way of life and a healthy attitude to food and exercise, because it has to be that way. I know from experience, I've lost weight before on "diets", only to have gained it all back (and more).

Feel free to mail me, we can be weight loss buddies if you like
    Good luck and stay positive
    Angie

I woke up this morning feeling great and this afternoon ive had a milky way then a couple of crisps. Will i ever do this. Im going to get onto my Wii Fit tonight and i WILL work hard for 30 mins. My husbands of to work on the lorrys tonight so i get a bit fed up on my own at home when Caitlins in bed. Its my hardest time. I eat from tea-time till my eyes shut.

    Default hey there

    Hi again Caroline,
I've been a serial yo-yo dieter for years. Diets and binges. Diets and binges. I know where you're coming from... sigh...-
I'm a comfort eater. And junk lover. And binger... I didn't do any exercise (have only just started) and my relationship with food/my body/ and life was totally wrong. I have no confidence because of how I look and how I feel, and that meant I was doing things less, avoiding going out and meeting people, which meant I was at home all the time, eating rubbish. It's a vicious cycle...
I also don't work as I have bad health, back problems and depression.

diets do not work. It's a major lifestyle overhaul and some mental attitudes and changes that are needed (me thinks). It has to be a change forever, otherwise any weight lost, goes right back on, with more on top! But that doesn't mean you can't have treats and things. It's a healthy balance.
I know I make it sound easy, but I know from personal experience (as do you) that it isn't. But believe me, we can do it!

Same here - like you, evenings in front of the t.v are worst, and unhealthy snacking is a big problem. So, I've replaced the junk with healthy snacks instead and am keeping a diary of what I am eating. If it's not there, I can't eat it! And if it was - I know I would!
I don't think you should deny yourself everything, a milky way won't do any harm - so quit the guilt!
Someone once said "you can eat whatever you want.... just not all in one day!" I think that's a good mantra. Everything in moderation!
How did you get on with your wii fit? I want one of those for my birthday, later this year.
I managed to haul my butt onto the exercise bike today and did 30mins. Motivation is a huge problem for me, but once I've done it, i do feel better. It's just getting myself going that's the hard bit
    Hope you're doing okay.
    Stay in touch
    Angie
