Default A little background about me

Last year I appeared in an article about weight loss, which was featured in the magazine that accompanies the Sunday Telegraph, it pretty much tells my story - so have a read!

Fiona, thats fantastic.

My starting weight last year was 17st 10lbs and I was going really well and lost 2st 7lbs, then I ground to a halt. I haven't put any on but was frustrated that I couldn't get my head to the same place it was.

Your story is inspirational, especially as you started at a similar weight.

This week I have finally got my motivation back and I really like the feeling, so watch my progress and hopefully I will have a story like yours to tell.

thank you for your story.

Thank you Helen - I wanted to post my story up and pictures, as I want people to clearly see that it is certainly possible to lose a large amount of weight, without having to starve, go on a faddy diet or have weight loss surgery.

You may have hit a bit of a plateau yourself, but you haven't put anything on and that is good news, just keep at it and try and keep motivated :-)

Amazing results Fiona. Congratulations!

What do you put your success down to, is it pure willpower?

Did you stick to any particular eating program or simple common sense?

Hi Mo, thanks.

Yes a lot of it is willpower of course, I love my food..always have and always will! I put weight on very easily so I have to watch myself all the time. Quite simply if I didn't exert some willpower at some point, I do feel i would be well over 20st now.

No particular programme, just healthy eating and cutting out most junk. I will say that I did a lot of exercise, going to the gym between 4-6 times a week, doing a mix of cardio and weights.

Yours is a brilliant story Fiona.

I have been big since I was about 17. I felt embarrassed and I know a lot of my failures have been down to my weight and low self esteem caused by it. We have to do it for ourselves dont we.

In the past Ive joined friends on diets who need to lose a bit. When they lose interest so have I and its all gone back on again...short term fixes are not for me!

Joining my last gym down in Sheffield is what really made the lifestyle change I needed. I've lost my way a bit since moving up to Wakefield but have found another place that I like. No excuses and all that )

I'll remember your story when Im wavering. I want to be posting my before and after pictures up on here!

I like the idea of this forum. I find that if you talk about weight loss with people in your life they all have their own take on it and you can easily be discouraged. No thank you. Thats the last time anyone tells me that this, that or the other wont work for me.

Thanks Fiona

xx
